Meet the Moriartys

 

My husband, Terence Moriarty, and I attended Manhattan College and were later married in 2007 in NYC.  We have two beautiful children, Charlotte and James.

Together we spend time with our children in various ways, which also include coaching them in their various sports and activities. Summer time involves biking, surfing, paddle boarding, as well as local lemonade stands.  The fall season includes my husband and I coaching the CYO soccer teams. However, winter is our favorite time of year, as we are known as the Snowboariartys!  Both our children have snowboarded since they were two years old. James has acquired a taste for death defying feats on the mountains!

We strongly believe in the education of our children, and began their passion for learning since they were born.  We read to them nightly, engaging them in stories of their families from Ireland, Italy, NYC and upstate NY. As they grew, my children grew in my footsteps and spent time playing school together in the basement. 

 

As I was researching structured and responsive literacy programs as well as K-2 phonics programs, I taught my children how to read using the various approaches. Later, as I built book clubs in Grades 3-12, I read the books to both Charlotte and James. You can often hear Charlotte laughing, "we are your guinea pigs!" Charlotte is correct! There is nothing that I ask my teachers to try if I have not tried it out on my own children first! Charlotte and James are apprehensive about high school, as they are aware that I taught Advanced Placement history courses, and I am always ready for something history related!

This is a small snapshot of the Moriarty family, as there is so much more to our clan. We are a strong family that puts things in perspective. We are supporters of our community and surrounding areas. We strive to build relationships that extend beyond our professions and family.
